Our Dream Home -
After five months of construction, we're now living in our new dream house. This is a short, simple section highlighting a few aspects of its construction. Below is the view we chose to be the main focus of our great room.
This photo shows the beautiful spot where we pitched our tent on our weekend trips from Maryland, while preparing to build our house. The property is 4.5 acres (a little more than half cleared for horses) with 615 feet of waterfront on a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay.
Having this house built was one of the most exciting things we've ever done! Bob and I designed our new house ourselves, "by the pen" of a very talented draftsman. We broke ground in October, 1998 and our fabulous contractor, First Superior Construction, Inc. completed our wonderful new home the last week of March, 1999.
What we're planning -
Sometime in the near future, there will be a gazebo on the point off to the left, which views a little marsh (further left, where we plan to put up an osprey nest pole). From that "lookout" spot, we can watch quite a few different species of water birds. The pier will be right in that clearing through the trees (about 40 feet out) and our "front yard" is actually a little more to the right, on the knoll. <next>
